Botulinum toxin type A injections, better known as BOTOX®, and recently formally approved for cosmetic use under the name VISTABEL®, are prescription only medications, and should be administered by fully trained doctors. How does it work?

The injections temporarily relax facial muscles, helping reduce the muscle contractions causing lines and wrinkles and ultimately helping the skin to repair.

After an initial consultation our doctors will assess the severity of the muscle contractions causing the lines and wrinkles of the area to be treated, and then carefully administer a few tiny injections of Botulinum toxin. This is a very quick procedure taking 15 – 20mins. Botulinum toxin takes a few days to have its effect on the muscle. The results vary from person to person and is dependant on the dose used, but one would expect the results to last for approximately 4 months.
